Surf life saving trophies and medals
Sur life saving combines surf sport and voluntary lifeguard services. In Sydney it began in he early 1900′s to help prevent drownings in the surf. The lifeguards set up flags on the beach where it is safe to swim between The beach is patrolled in Summer between certain hours on weekends and public holidays by volunteer life guards. Most surf clubs have long boats for rescue in the surf. It is a healthy past time with events on the beach including sprints and beach relays. The iron man competition is very popular and draws competitors throughout Australia to compete to be the Ironman and woman of the year. Medals with ribbons engraved with the event are usually presented to the winner of these events both the juniors and seniors enjoy the recognition receiving an engraved medal.
