Hockey or Field Hockey which is represented here is a team sport where the ball is manoeuvred by a hockey stick. Modern hockey sticks are J shaped and composed of wood, glass fibre and or carbon fibre. Hockey is played on a variety of surfaces and is popular among male and female players. Hockey is popular in Girl’s schools as a team sport. It is also offered in Co-educational and boy’s schools. Hockey associations enjoy the rivalry between the districts and as with other team sports the players look forward to the presentation of hockey trophies at the end of the season.

Clubs foster young players and in doing so encourage them by presenting players with Hockey trophies, Hockey awards and Hockey medallions often with ribbons attached in the club colours.
